My Experience: Real Women Style Awards 2014

RBK_RealWomenStyleAwards_Option 1 Update

First of all, I want to say sorry for the photo quality. These were all taken with my Samsung Note Galaxy 3 (which I’m selling btw).

NYC makes you feel like the possibilities are endless. I had such a wonderful time in  NYC and Redbook Magazine made us feel so welcomed.

Anyway, I flew into Newark and was greeted by a driver who took me to Hearst Towers. Yes. THE Hearst Towers. I was stunned and overwhelmed with joy that I couldn’t gather my thoughts on where I was literally standing. Where’s Oprah and Joe Zee?? lol

Once I arrived, the editors of Redbook guided me to an after flight snack and then to “The Closet”. They pulled a few things from their closet that I might have liked and I chose the final looks for the actual shoot. The seamstress made sure that everything fit properly and altered ANY garment that I thought about wearing. How would you like your own personal seamstress?

Next, it was time to celebrate with JCPenney and Redbook Magazine. I invited my friend Michael to celebrate since I haven’t seen him since college. We all got acquainted, sips some champagne and got a bomb swag bag full of goodies.

The next day was shoot day! It was literally 7-8 hours and probably longer. Everyone had to get their makeup, hair, nails, clothes, accessories, shoes, and bags ready. While each of us were hanging out waiting for our time to shoot or our nails to dry, we got to know each other a bit better. I learned a lot about them. We really didn’t talk about our blogs much. We really got to laugh and have fun!

And the final day was all about spending the $500 gift card from JCPenney! But before we went running down the isles, the ladies at Sephora touched up our makeup for photos we would take while shopping and then we got to speak with the Fashion Director of JCPenney on what the new trends where happening for next season.

JCPenney really surprised me with their quality pieces that give a lot of options for work and casual wear. Also, if you have heard the brands Levi, Call It Spring, Mango, Joe Fresh, and  Liz Claiborne you’ll find exactly what you need. Also, SEPHORA is inside of most JCPenney which is a win for you Beauty Insiders.
